Anyone who knows me knows that it's not like me to get behind a cause strongly enough that I'm willing to stick my neck out and ask my friends to vote for something! Issues involving our family and our faith are the two exceptions. This cause involves our family members.
If you missed last night's broadcast on KSN about the doctor shortage in rural Kansas towns, please follow the link & watch the broadcast featuring our local doctors. After the page loads, click "Doctor Shortage Creating Crisis." Watch it and think about the risks involved for us here. We're at a crossroads: move forward in a new facility which will help us recruit more doctors & other vital health care providers or risk moving backwards. WAIT - don't click the link just yet - read this email to the end first, THEN click away! (It's not much longer.)

After watching the video, I believe you will begin to see why more people are getting on board for the proposed hospital bond issue! If Scott City cannot provide the services our family members need in times of physical crisis (whether it's being able to stabilize them until it is safe to transport them to specialists elsewhere or to care for them in our local facility), the advantages of living in a small, rural town in Western Kansas mean nothing!
It will only take one instance of living through this and you will quickly agree that $7.25 a month property tax on a $100,000 home ($86.94 a year) is more than worth it! Talk to anyone who has had to sit beside a dying parent, child, spouse, or other loved one, and they'll tell you it's well worth the cost! I've walked in those shoes myself several times, and I'd gladly give up all I have to safeguard my loved ones' lives!
Yes, these are tough times nationwide, but building costs and interest rates are at much lower right now. I truly believe this is our time to build!
Thank you for listening!
